The Application Process

The application process for the Otago MBA differs from other MBA programmes. We like to discuss personally with each potential candidate. Our admission process involves telephone conversations, a Skype interview, and an opportunity for a one-to-one talk with the director of the Otago MBA programme. Candidates will only be required to submit official documentation such as confirmation of qualifications, references and test results, if you pass the interview selection process.




Conditional Acceptance

Candidates who are accepted onto the Otago MBA programme, will be sent a conditional offer. The conditions that candidates will need to fulfil are listed below:


Undergraduate Degree

It is the University of Otago's policy that original certified transcripts from universities are provided. In certain cases you may need to have your qualification evaluated by Education Credential Evaluators. You can find more information about this on Otago's international admissions page. The University of Otago reserves the right to request an external evaluation of academic qualifications from any applicant.

Work Experience

You will need to provide two detailed references as evidence of your work experience.

The GMAT

The Graduate Management Admission Test (also known as the GMAT) is often used as a test criterion for admission into graduate business administration Programs such as the Otago MBA.

Every candidate applying for the Otago MBA is required to complete the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). You do not need to do this until we request it of you. However, if you have already done this test, ensure that an original GMAT score report is sent to the University of Otago. The GMAT test centre number for the University of Otago is 3HF-7G-89.

English Language Proficiency

The Otago MBA is taught and examined in English. If your first language is not English you must provide evidence of a satisfactory level of English language proficiency.
