MBA Live Case Study

Live case study takes place at the end of Phase One of the Otago MBA programme. Each student syndicate provides consulting services to a real company. Students apply new skills and use their expertise to benefit the company.

Client companies can be established businesses seeking to expand, seeking a new direction or breaking into a new market, or may be start-up ventures. Each syndicate produces a report for the client and presents their findings to the board or management of the company. Live case study reports and presentations are critiqued and assessed by a panel of business leaders.

The Live Case Process

  1. Meet with the client organisation and obtain a briefing
  2. Scope the consultancy project and develop a proposal that includes a background, objectives, deliverables, milestones, and deadlines
  3. Undertake the consultancy and communicate regularly and effectively with the client
  4. Prepare a final client report of recommendations
  5. Present findings and recommendations to the client and the assessment panel.

Case Method Benefits
