Otago MBA Student Commitment

I. Core Values

The Otago MBA is widely regarded as one of the top advanced business education programmes in New Zealand and is one of the most prestigous in the Asia Pacific Region. Our mission is to develop business leaders who are respected for their honesty, humility, integrity, openness and vision. We seek to develop thoughtful practitioners who are able to make a positive leadership contribution to the performance of whatever organisation or industry they are part of. The Otago MBA therefore attends to the academic, personal and professional development of students. Students are expected to adhere to the highest ethical standards and professional behaviour based on our Core Values of:

II. Expectations

In keeping with these Core Values, the following expectations encourage students to engage whole heartedly:

  1. Attend all classes or advise staff if unable to attend
  2. Come well prepared, be on time and complete all classes
  3. Take an active part in discussion
  4. Respect different perspectives and avoid interrupting others
  5. Provide Otago MBA faculty with feedback
  6. Take advantage of sessions and events that are part of the Otago MBA such as the Mentor Programme, Career Development Programme and Alumni Network
  7. Wear smart and tidy attire around Executive Programmes
  8. During class:
    • Put mobile phones on silent
    • Use laptops for relevant course activities only
  9. Take responsibility for keeping the Departmental facilities clean and tidy
  10. Embrace change as this is an inevitable part of the Programme.
