Eben Joubert has lived in Dunedin since 2008 during which time he has played 14 representative rugby matches for Otago. A qualified maths teacher, Eben says he has always been interested in business. Eben chose the part-time Otago MBA to give him the flexibility he needed to negotiate the demands of a busy playing schedule. Eben studies some terms full-time, and others part-time.

The part-time Otago MBA brought balance to my life and I have greatly increased my personal productivity. It is a very demanding course but absolutely worthwhile.

Claire McGowan received the Otago MBA in 1999 after completing a PhD in Molecular Microbiology. After graduating, Claire co-founded a successful global IP brokering company. She is now on the Board of a Crown Research Institute and provides consultancy to entrepreneurs.

The Otago MBA allowed me to take my science skills and experience directly into the business world. It is a highly demanding course but absolutely worth it.

Originally a qualified nurse, Cherie Wells completed the part-time Otago MBA in 2008. Today Cherie works in healthcare management in Dunedin. Studying her MBA part-time gave her the best of all worlds - learning, meeting new people, starting a family, and still earning. Cherie explains,

Studying part-time meant I didn't have to 're-enter' the job market yet it still allowed me to diversify my career and be more competitive in the market.

Cherie completed her in-company Otago MBA Business Project with her existing employer where she learned more about the business and diversified her skill set, this in turn lead to a more rewarding role.
